Claudia Shiuh, violist, received her musical training in Texas and California, attending California State University Fresno and the University of California Berkeley. At age fifteen, she became the youngest member in the history of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra. A longtime San Joaquin Valley resident, Ms. Shiuh has performed extensively as a chamber musician throughout California and has been a guest artist at the Tehachapi Beethoven Festival, the Fresno-based Hauskonzert and Fresno Art Museum series and with the Orpheus Chamber Ensemble.

In 1983, she toured throughout France as principal violist of Paris’ I’orchestre de chamber Paul Kuentz. Other credits include chamber music recitals and seminars in Austria as part of the Maishofner Sommer Kammermusikprogram and performances in Italy with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra. She was a featured artist in the Ascoli Piceno Chamber Music Festival, also in Italy. Recently she and the ensemble Musica Viva were guests at the San Miguel el Grande Pro Musica chamber music series in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. In 2008, she was invited as a guest artist in the Baroque and Beyond Festival in San Miguel.

Ms. Shiuh has performed on ABC’s, Good Morning America and appears on the PBS special and DVD, Andrea Bocelli: Amore Under the Desert Stars. She has recorded with and is assistant principal violist of the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra and has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra of America. Formerly assistant concertmaster of the Fresno Philharmonic and Fresno Opera Orchestras, she is currently principal violist of the Fresno Philharmonic. Ms. Shiuh has been a faculty member at CSU Fresno, teaching viola and chamber music. A founding member of Philharmonia Strings, she continues to perform for festive events throughout the greater Fresno area. She lives in Fresno with her husband Frank Langone and maintains a private teaching studio.
