Cynthia stuart, assistant principal violin

Cynthia Stuart has maintained a home violin studio for over 25 years and currently teaches about 50 students. She is also the local vice president of the American String Teachers Association.

Ms. Stuart plays in a string trio/quartet that performs for weddings and other events called, Philharmonia Strings in addition to performing with other local ensembles such as Moment Musical, Orpheus, and Fresno Grand Opera. For the Fresno Philharmonic, Ms. Stuart is the chair of the Players’ Committee and is a string contractor for the Up Close and Classical String Quartet. This string quartet visits schools and has performed for hundreds of children in Fresno County.

Ms. Stuart was born in Topeka, Kansas and raised in Amarillo, Texas and Fresno, California. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from University of California Berkeley. Ms. Stuart has five children: Erin, Colin, Rob, Doug and Lianna (all of whom have played violin, viola or piano as taught by Ms. Stuart or by their aunt, Claudia Shiuh). For recreation, Ms. Stuart enjoys going to the gym, doing crossword puzzles, and walking her two golden retrievers, Sophie and Maggie with her husband, Dennis.
