A native of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, Lauren received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Boyer College of Music at Temple University, where she was a student of former Philadelphia Orchestra fourth horn, Adam Unsworth. While in Philadelphia, Lauren also attended the Settlement Music school, and was a member of the New School Woodwind Quintet. Ms. Varley received her Master of Music degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, as a student of Robert Ward, principal horn of the San Francisco Symphony. At the conservatory, Lauren served as principal horn of the conservatory orchestra and New Music Ensemble, and recently represented SFCM in a performance at the Kennedy Center as part of the "Conservatory Project". Lauren has spent summers at Kinhaven, Bar Harbor Brass, Sewanee and Aspen Music Festival and School.
In the Bay Area, Lauren has performed with the Napa Valley, North State, Monterey, Santa Rosa and San Francisco Symphonies, and is also an Associate Member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
