ron franklin, trumpet

"The Fresno Philharmonic is a treasured resource providing quality live music for residents of the central valley." - Ron Franklin

Ron has taught music for the past 38 years and also taught math at the beginning of his career. Throughout his many years teaching in public schools, Ron has maintained a large studio of private trumpet students, many of whom have gone on to successful collegiate careers. He holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Performance and has studied trumpet with Lester Remsen, formerly of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Dr. Ritchie Clendenin, formerly of the President's Own Marine Band.

Ron has been a member of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra for the past 37 years, and has performed with the Bear Valley Music Festival Orchestra where he has appeared as soloist. He is also a founding member of the Fresno Brass Quintet.

Ron has been happily married for 26 years to Heidi, who is also a music teacher and member of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra. Ron is the proud father of two wonderful sons, Brandon, a graduate of University of Southern California, and Ryan, a sophomore at University of the Pacific. When Ron is not teaching or practicing, he loves reading, gardening, and hiking. After retiring from public school teaching, he promises to cook for his wife and someday take her and the boys to Europe!
