A series of Fresno Philharmonic commissions exploring the many cultures representing and enriching the Central Valley.

2025-2026 | Alma Monarca

For Cultural Crossroad’s second cycle, we are thrilled to explore the vibrant history of Fresno’s Mexican American community. This year’s commission is a moving work by Fresno favorite Juan Pablo Contreras, and what is his third partnership with the Fresno Philharmonic. 2024-2025 | Meguru: Dreams of Harvest
Our inaugural Cultural Crossroads project celebrated the deep roots of our fellow Japanese Americans here in the Valley. In collaboration with local author and organic peach farmer, Mas Masumoto, California composers Hitomi Oba & Erika Oba created a brand new work, commissioned by the Fresno Philharmonic. The piece enjoyed its world premiere to two sold-out concert halls in February 2025. Click below to watch the video and learn all about Meguru: Dreams of Harvest.
What’s Coming Next?
In our 2026-2027, we are delighted to partner with composer Mary Kouyoumdjian to explore our rich Armenian heritage. Stay tuned for more details!
