What is “American” classical music? Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World, answered that question by drawing inspiration from Indigenous and African American music. Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Chokfi' expresses his Chickasaw identity through the medium of modern classical music.
